Anyway no time tonight to try.
Tried switching motor leads on RX18 and problem still on same side. Next step is to swap over the motors between the gearboxes.

Hi Tankbear..I put novak 55t motors in my tiger..just made some new frames up for the gearboxs to take them.Used a 10 turn cog to drive them.. A tight fit but well worth it sooo much power now, it will climb any thing in its parth ;) .

Hope you are able to fix yours soon, after all a tank collecting dust is just a shelf queen :haha:

Well I had a pair of Graupner speed motors which I planned to go into my other Tiger so decided to try them in the Mato gearbox. But problem still there so must be the gearbox after all. Even put plastic tracks on in case it might of been the tracks but same.

Next step run the gearbox with some abrasive thrown in to help wear the gears in and then clean them.

Have you figured it out? If not, you might want to look into this ..

Solved the original problem of siezed gear, which was like the linked rcuniverse mentioned. As far as the other gearbox problem no.

I've run it for over an hour in both direction, used rubbing compound, lubes, striped & cleaned, changed motors but still there. I've identified the drive shaft is slightly bent, and the gear next to the final drive gear is loose (only slightly) on it's shaft. Maybe brought on from bent shaft or not I'm not certain.

As it stands now the gearbox works, but as soon as I hit hills or grass the extra resistance is noticable when turning. Probably not helped with the gearbox been in my Tiger with metal hull and tracks etc so got the extra weight as well to deal with also adding to the resistance.

I've also got a plastic Tiger so might swap gearbox with that and see if the lighter tank helps it, or alternatively put more powerful motors in. I was thinking of these http://alshobbies.com/shop/lookupstock. ... 5916&Desc=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as found them recommended elsewhere on the forum but haven't found full data for them yet.

Why don't you contact the vendor, who you got them off and tell them that they are faulty. May be ask if he has had any more back like it. Or may be it was just yours that was the rogue box.
I was thinking of getting one of these bass 1:4 boxs..thinking twice now.

i just put a steel gearbox in my tiger and have the same problem. I have traced mine back to the motors though. Good thing I got some 400's on the way already or this would really been a pain.
