Hello
I have never painted metal when modelling before. Do you have to prime metal bits (sprockets, idlers etc) before topcoat.
If you do, what do you use. Many thanks.

Hi,
I always prime metal parts before painting, I usually use Tamiya fine surface primer spray but any good primer will do.

Re: Painting Metal Parts
Hi,
I would prime metal parts where I'd want the paint to last, but, for instance, I haven't primed the metal sprockets and idlers on my Tiger because I want the paint to wear off, where it meets the metal tracks, quite quickly. To give me that 'couple of hard years on a battle field' look.
Regards.
