help with a non S&S HL Tiger I
help with a non S&S HL Tiger I
I aquired a non working HL TIger, older version without smoke and sound. They friend I got it from says it worked the first time he used it, and then never again. Headlight comes on, thats it. Now when I put a battery in it the first time, the switch was on and the tracks moved but thats it. Now Im new to the tanks, Ive been around RC for a bit, although it has been awhile. So maybe there is no communication between radio and tank? So could the crystal be a possibilty? Now for the dumb question: where in the heck is the crystal on this old radio??

If you didnt pay much for it you could try just putting a new board in it for about 28 bucks.

Did you make sure the transmitter battery was fresh?

All I need is a tank that can dive like a sub and shoot torpedoes.

hi there if your tank is non smoke and sound then you wont have a crystal in it it works from the transmitter on an a/b/c if you make sure that the transmitter is on A then look at the bottom of your tank and see if the switch is the same A/ then it should go if not then your board could be duff make sure you have full charged batts dave

batteries are fresh. Id already planned on upgrading this tank anyway. Just havent decided how much of an upgrade. Can get the radio and SS&S upgrade thru RCTankWars for around $60 or DCB or maybe even Elmod. Just haent decided. Ive got the working jagdpanther so no need to upgrade just yet although I see it in the near future too. Thanks for the responses, I can end the wild goose chase.

Before any purchase check this section out. Phil@rctankwars is listed as is Dave Forgebear. But the RC TANK Market has it's demons, Black holes that eat money and produce very little. Buyer beware is not needed if you follow this link and see for your self which vendors have earned a positive review.

Phil is very helpful. I have purchased a lot of upgrades for my HL Tiger I and an entire Asiatam chassis, top, gears, and wheels from Phil for my next project (Asiatam Tiger I w/Elmod
) . He has had a bit of trouble getting my Asiatam road wheels but he's good to work with.

My trouble is goin from no tanks to 2 tanks in 2 days. I dont know what to do first lol. Ive run 1 battery pack through the jagdpanther, i spend most of the time lookin on here and else where for upgrades and paintschemes. I actually started puttin zimmerit on the Tiger today using some hints about milliput I saw on this board. And have saved the link to the DAK pages for help with paint. Im here to learn man.
