Grossdeutschland did not receive Panthers until after Kursk, August 1943 or after. Grossdeutschland was supplied mainly with Tigers. The numbering changed when they were expanded June or July 1943 From the III Battalion 13th company(15 Tigers) to Panzer Regiment GD. The original 13th company III Batalion Tigers became the 9th comany to fit the new regimental organization. Then the new 10th and 11th companies each organized 15 Tigers. I staff S01,S02,S03 two commanders per company A01, A02,B01,B02,C01,C02
Then each Platoon were numbered as follows- 1st Platoon A11,A12,A13,14, 2CD Platoon A21.A22.A23.A24 3RD.Platoon A31,A32.A33.A34 This system was used in each of the 3 companies with the letter changing 10th company B,11TH COMPANY C.
The following Links well give you the information about Grossdeutschland Numbering system, the Panthers were used in the FGB unit attached to Grossdeutschland. I have not researched the Panther in GD yet, but intend to begin that research after the holidays. The Only Jagdpanther used under the GD Division were 14 issued to FGB in December 1944.
Their were 10 King Tigers issued to GD but I have yet to find evidence of those KT's leaving Paderborn training area, but they must have as they were issued in Dec.1944 and records show they were numbered 1st company and the S was used in this reorganization. Maybe this will help you, but decals for Grossdeutschland are available for the A.B.C. SERIES. The original 13th company S decals like my Tiger S13 are available if you print your own or used different decals sets and cut out the individual numbers and letters.
