Heng Long Pro version?

Guys.

I have just been researching getting a Heng Long Tank (Panzer IV or Tiger). Two questions:

1. What is the difference between the PRO Version and a '-3' version? (Both seem to be S&S and metal upgrades).
2. I am interested in the German models from Heng Long and leaning towards the Panzer IV or Tiger. Any particular reason to go for one over the other. (I am still reading up - so not necessary to respond to Q2).

Not sure what you are looking at - could you post a link, some vendors deliberately fudge the fact that they are trying to sell non S&S for S&S money
If you go for the Panzer IV, be sure to ask if it comes with metal suspension - there are plastic versions out there, otherwise its not a bad start point and we can help you get the best out of it.

The Tiger 1 isn't their best model, tho better than it was tho. If you really want one and you can't afford the Tamiya version, there are a few threads here that will help you get the best out of it. Usually when you read a thread that complains about Heng Long Tanks, this is probably what they are talking about - the older versions were pretty poor, and its still not an accurate model now.

That said, I have 4 of them, and they are good enough for me to paint up and battle with , so its a case of deciding what you want and spending accordingly

I would recommend that you talk to Forgebear (with apologies to other vendors), and discuss exactly what you want. He can't help you with the IR side if you want club level equipment, but he is 'The Man' if you want to cherry pick the parts you need to add to a custom build.

Never heard of the '-3' spec but the pro versions are good
the only diffrences between a new std Tiger 1 & Pro are
Metal Gearbox's
Metal tracks
Metal sprockets
and a few minor looking details like the plastic track/ armour on the front is black on the Pro version instead of silver (and there's a slight diffrence in the gearbox mountings on the Pro version)
the Tiger usualy only comes as BB firing and not infa red (Ive never seen one as std with IR)
the biggest thing to think about is wether you just want to run it or mod it or battle with it as these are the important things,
I have a pro version tiger 1 and it looks ok as im not to worried about it being an exact replica of the original
the good thing is these are allot cheaper to buy than tamiya tanks and you can modify & run them without fear of damaging a £300.00+ tank LOL + Parts for Heng Long Tanks are allot cheaper such as the mfu etc
and as someone has already said if you go for the panzer iv make sure it has the metal suspention

Thanks a lot for the quick and detailed replies. I had come across this website (seems to be a distributor), which mentions the '-3' version:http://www.amerang-group.com/product_de ... 858&menu=1. The pro version seems to be the same thing.

And I guess, truth be told, I am looking more into the projectile versions
