My Heng Long Pz III, IV and V

I wanted to post some pictures of my tanks to get a general opinion, and also because I have no one else (except the other half, but she's never really been into tanks ) to show them to. They're not really "show off" material so don't get too excited!

It's supposed to look like whitewash that's a few months old and wearing off. The tracks, especially those on the side of the turret, look more red then they are in real life (so does the floor). The majority of the painting on this tank is done, but there's still some stuff to finish or add.
I messed up the stickers for the air intakes, so I ended up brushing some black onto it instead. Maybe one payday I'll get replacement covers.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get a single picture to show it right. It's supposed to look like the tank's dirty and used with a rusty exhaust (the smoke oil sputtered out/ran off it and took some paint with it, which is why it's now shiny). Again, it looks different in reality - luckily photography isn't my job!

Nothing's happened to this one yet, apart from me accidently breaking the gun mount, which I still have to fix. (I was glueing it, then it got stuck to my hand, so I shook it off and the gun went flying - I only found it again today.)

nice collection, you only get half the pic as your picture size is to big ,try resizing them , then you should get the whole image

I don't want to pretend that I'm an expert so from my personal point of view the whitewashed PIII is a little too white, maybe try putting some dark black/brown/rust streaks down her so she looks a even grubbier.

I agree, it's too white (making it look too fake), but I've been at a loss as to what to do with it. The paint is watercolour and I'm scared of totally ruining it... but at least if I decide I don't like it (or ruin it) it'll be easy to clean off, if I use watercolour for the "grubbiness" paint.

I've thought about adding a little bit more rust, but your suggestion opened my mind. Obviously, if the tank's been in field service for a few months, it's not going to be looking nice and whitewashed, but nice and dirty instead!

As to the intakes, don't worry about the stickers, they're rubbish any way. Perhaps have a go at making your own, all you need is some fine mesh (one guy on here is using chip pan splatter guard from a pound shop...genius!)

That is genius! A bit of mesh (without frying fat) would be rather cool... I'm sure I can find some cheap mesh somewhere. It may be my brain, but in my head that would look a lot better than a few brushstrokes of black

Look forward to seeing what you do to the panther, what have you got in mind?

All I can think of for now is a dark wash to make it look 'used'... I want to keep the standard camouflage because I massively suck at painting. No idea what else to do though. The problem is that both my imagination and my skills aren't great, and that it has to be at almost no cost. We'll see - time trying things doesn't cost anything!

They look great mate. Well done. If I were you I would turn the barrel brace on the Pz 4 around. The single arm goes to the front.
If you want to give a bit more of a used look to your Pz3 wipe off some of the water colour with a bit of methylated spirits. Mainly on the ware areas where the crew with there hob nailed boots walked and climbed to get inside

Nice looking collection.
I have just aquired a Heng long Panzer 4 myself and am thoroughly enjoying driving it around the garden.I was quite surprised at the level of detail on it.

Nice tanks I like the winter panzer III give it a thin black wash when you give the panther one it will tone the white down job done I use phto bucket for my pics now although I size them first as photobucket crops them sometimes keep up the good work.

The problem is that the white is done with watercolour (when I didn't like the first "whitewash" I spent hours cleaning the tank with white spirit and oven cleaner, so to be safe I decided on water-based paint this time). If I go over it I'll probably mess up the white paint. I could try a non-water mat clear coat - it makes sense in my head, anyway (but as the police have often told me: it may make sense in my head but that doesn't necessarily make it right ).

I haven't had any big problems with them, apart from one (the Panther G) which kept pulling to the left, but that got solved (thanks to this forum ).
I only have Heng Long tanks, though, so I can't compare them to other brands.
