Panzer Meeting Engagement

Post by Pcomm1 »

Hello All,

Some friends came over to enjoy a fine spring afternoon and run tanks for a bit. This backyard game is to battle accurately, well that only lasted for about 5 seconds. 6 people driving tanks, meant each had their own definition of WWII accurate. Plus the Pershing driver believes it is not nice to LED shoot at other tanks, so refuses to use a TBU most of the time. On meeting, tanks work at there highest rate of fire to gain local fire superiority. And no, you can not run away in this game and call that maneuvering.

The concept is gleaned from: "WWII tank fights, particularly meeting engagements, take place at very short ranges", Wolfgang Schneider in the book Panzer Tactics.

We also tested the new Futaba SkySport 2.4 radio and it works great in Tamiya f/o tanks and is a very cost effective solution, plus really easy to setup.

Regards, John

PS The Sherman is set on 9 hits to account for its numerical superiority in the ETO.

Hi,

No, that is not Mark's R1. He test drove it at track speed and wrote the bike review for the magazine he works for. He is a motor sports journalist and a motorcycle test rider for Cycle World. He came up through the AMA racing ranks and was a top rider on Kawasaki Super Bikes and then raced on Honda Super Bikes for a few years. The dream deal is that he is now invited by the pro teams to test ride some very cool racing motorcycles at various tracks all over the world. A pretty unique situation for a US based bike journalist.

The dive bomber hangs from a tree limb, the bomb can drop with a tug of a string (low tech late 1950's toy technology). Blunder under it and you are out of the game; until the next game. We tried actually dropping the plastic bomb, but it can damage tanks and if I don't like that, I am guessing no one else will either. Glad you enjoyed my Tamiya tank builds and thank you.

Cheers, John
