Hi Gents,
Some news to post.
Pete(971wright) kindly made me an "Apple", I.R. emitter and associated leads for my Sherman a few months ago. I've literally just plugged them in and made no attempt yet at hiding leads etc.
I plugged in the "Darkith Apple" into my H/L PZIV that I got from RCTankwars.com ( aka Phil, The Blitz). Phil had fitted the DBC/DBU circuit into the PZIV before shipping it to me. Total cost of this tank including metal tracks, metal front and rear sprocket and fully fitted Darkith Battle system was £179 including shipping.
I switched on both transmitters pressed fire on the Sherman transmitter and the PZIV took a hit. I then pressed fire on the PZIV transmitter and the Sherman took a hit. I particularly like the "incoming round" sound on the Sheman that occurs just before the hit sound.
Gentlemen...you can only imagine my sense of relief that these two tanks work so well with I.R.
It's been a somewhat long road to get to this point and I have to say a special thanks to all the people on this forum for being patient during a lot of false starts with my foray into I.R.
I would also like to extend a special thanks to Rob and Pete for their support over the last 12 months or so.
Thanks Guys....without all your support I might have just ended up being another statistic.
All the best,
Nick.

Thanks Rob,
And thanks again for your support. It's been a long and windy road but we got there in the end, didn't we mate.
I tell you what though, doesn't I.R. bring a whole new dimension to the hobby. It's got me all fired up again.
All the best mate,
Nick.

Hi Nick Thats great news ,that you have got them working together ,I tested the apple and I.R emmitter before sending them ,so knew they worked ,but this was on my Pershing I didnt know which conections they were on the Sherman ,I take it the manual was correct Cn1 for the apple and Cn2 for the I.R. led .
Installation Is pretty easy for the apple I cut a hole in the bracket that is already in the commanders hatch and fit the cable and plug into it(hold it in position with glue or screws are best so it dosnt come out when removing the apple) ,the I.R emmiter you can use the part that comes with the tank and clip it to the barrel or drill a hole for the focus tube(make sure that the emmitter is about 8 to 10mm back from the end of the tube you will have to work out the total length) through the mantel (just be careful not to hit the hinges or elevation arm) Put a pencil or something like it down the tube so you can line it up with the gun barrel then glue it in then fit the led in from the back and hold it in position with bluetac so it can be changed if it blows.
Sorry I dont have any photos of the installation I did in my Pershing (must remember to take photos when I do something)hope this helps .
regards pete
P.S. Only to glad to help Nick thats why we are here have fun and help each other

Re: I.R. Battle test...Tamiya Sherman vs. H/L PZIV
Thanks Pete for the installation tips on the Sherm.
I'll probably buy a new turret, barrel and mantlet and use your tips to install. I think it would be a better idea than carving up what is already glued in place. At the same time I'll probably buy a new hull top and paint the lot in proper olive drab. As I've never been happy with the paint colour on my Sherm. Having said that I washed the lower hull with Tamiya Buff and that's given me a fair representation of proper Olive Drab overall.
Nick.
p.s. Pete mate...I know you tested everything you made and sent me. So I was always confident that it would all work. The cn1 and 2 must be the same as the Pershing. The only reason that I was hesitant was because I'd lost a lot of confidence in things electronic.....Anyway, that's all history. I've two I.R. ready tanks for Battle.
