Hussars intro

Post by Hussars »

Hi, I am ex cavalry, HM forces 15 years.

Keen aeromodeler with an enjoyment of all types of modelling. It has taken me quite a number of years to start with tanks (strange since I was one for real) but after spying some very good deals on used Heng longs most faulty ones with one in good condition (thanks John of St Helens). Nice guy included some extras which, considering the bargain I got was really kind. He also pointed me in this direction.

So as a keen modeler I am already planning some mods for this first HL panzer III.

Anyone actually reading this? Could you let me know if there is a gearbox available to reduce the unscale like speed of these HL tanks?

I am married, 3 kids, 1 grandson, retired from my last career due to getting injured which made me fairly wheelchair dependent.

Thats me more or less, good sense of humour, talk a lot and friendly, thats me.

thanks all, I'm now off to have a read of some of your threads.

Hi John and welcome to the forum. In answer to your first question you can get replacement gearboxes to reduce your tank speed. Check out the reccomended vendors list and you will find a few do them. I got mine from Forgebear to use in a King Tiger project and they are much better than standard HL ones. Just remember to get the correct length of drive shaft for your panzer III. Hope this helps.
Alan

Hi Welcome to the forum Im sure you will have hours of fun on here ,as for the speed of the panzer3 It all depends on which gears are in it now if they are metal boxes with white cap motors the speed is only a fraction to fast say about 10% which dose slow down some when you put extra weight of metal track and suspension to about the right speed ,if you want lots of torque go for the gears that Forgebear has for sale there great .

regards pete

P.S. what part of the country do you live in
