Hello,
Are there any experts out there that have successfully hooked up a HL Recoil Unit to a Tamiya DMD? Is there a wiring diagram and or photo guide available?
I have had a search in the forum threads but have not found anything on the subject. Also on other forums.
We have to keep up the British end by coming up with the answer.
I have had a go but cannot get it to stop after one recoil action.
I think it is just a question of setting up the wiring on the switch mechanism the right way. This would be chicken feed for any one in the electrical business or a hobbyist with a gift for electronics and a knowledge and familiarity with HL and Tamiya parts.
This risk is of course that if you do it wrong you burn out the resistor in the MFU and then it will simply run constantly for 30secs no matter how it is wired (I have read that in the Panzerketten forum). I do not want to make that mistake so wanted to ask for help first.
There must be someone out there who has done it or knows how, some one clever like Grompix for example.
My main aim is to use one of those new HL Tiger Tank recoil units in my model that is both a recoil unit and an elevation unit in one housing. The recoil movement is more correct than the Tamiya version (fast back and slow forward) and the whole thing is more efficient in terms of space usage, robustness.
I am building Tiger 007 (Wittman`s last ride) out of a Tamiya Tiger FO model.
A picture and a few wise words would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Alan

Peter you are the man. Thank you very much for going to the trouble of sending me the DMD attachment. It would seem you are better with a PC than I am lol. Also the DBC info was most interesting as I had no idea that one could fit it to a Tamiya MFU. All the best for now

PS I will be trying this once I get a few days off

Re: Tamiya Tiger DMD/MFU + HL Recoil unit?
Hi The hardest part about about wiring the DBC to the Tamiya system is getting hold of the plugs and inserts for them,if your MF unit has them in when you get them keep hold of them there like rocking horse poo then getting the inserts is also hard,I have a DBC that fits in my Tamiya Pershing but it also fits tanks with the DBU,its all down to keeping the wiring and plugs the same. Most of this work Chris (grompix)has told me how to do it also Darkith ,I have the info for the plugs and inserts somewhere will post it when I can find it ,bloody computers hide stuff from me takes me ages to find stuff.PLus have 2 off them and cant rember which one has the files.

Re: Tamiya Tiger DMD/MFU + HL Recoil unit?
Hi Pete I know the problem with Tamiya connections so I did this with my Tamiya recoil wires so it's now plug and play. That is why I needed the wiring info on Tamiya MFU'S and recoil units as I want to swap my Tamiya control stuff between diffrent tanks.

Re: Tamiya Tiger DMD/MFU + HL Recoil unit?
Hi Thats a great idea ,Im trying to sort out my Heng Long DBC/DBU (most of my DBUs are hidden inside the tank )wiring at the momment so if there is a problem with one top can test on another because the wiring is the same a quick way to see if the problem is with the top or the hull wiring.
The price of DMD/mf units this is a good way to make more than one tank run on the DMD/mf units,Its a shame the conectors for tamiya are so hard to get hold of ,dont understand why the price of a TBU is so high when the kit for the DBU is only $15 + a $1 for the I.R. emitter the rest can be made from tube plastic sheet and a bit of wire.PLus its easyer to hide the DBU inside the tank .

Pete mate Tamiya has always been expensive for what you get. Not knocking just observing as I own both HL and Tamiya and each has it's pro's and con's
. Hope you get your electrical issues sorted soon. All the best for now
