Hello, noob needs help!!

Post by fatboyslim »

Hi all
Been lurking here for a while
Finally decided to join
Been looking at tanks for a while now
Absolutely love the Tamiyas they are just great, downside being cost 8O
Seen the Heng Long and Hobby Engine ones which seem good too
After a bit of reading it seems the HE ones are not too good
Question I'm going to ask (probably been asked before!!)
Are the HL tanks anygood, obviously they're not going to be in the same league as Tamiyas
So should I get a HL or not??
Another question which is very seasonal, do they work ok in snow??

Thanks

hi and welcome to the forum
to start for the price of a tamiya you can buy 3 or more heng long tanks
heng long tanks are now becoming more reliable than some other makes there are many upgrades that you can put on your tanks to make them as good as a tamiya if money is tight you can do as much or as little as you like to them depends on what you want every one whats a tamiya but for second choice i would go with heng long and use this as my start point  hope this helps dave

Yes it does
There's a shop near me who sells HL tanks
Just wondering how to tell if they're the latest model?
Which HL would be the best to get??
Also do they run ok in the snow or not??

cheers

Is there a way to tell if it has the rx18/gearboxes by looking, just in case the guy doesn't know?

no only if you take the top off youcould ask him to run it and if it has a slow machine gun noise and the gearboxes sound loud it has got both the rx18 and met gears
