Intenal colour of lat war Panthers
Hi Im trying to find out the colour to paint the insides of the hatches on my late version Ausf.A Panther . Ive seen early tanks in an ivory colour but was told tankers scraped this of as the flying paint splinters were dangerous. Ive also then seen them in red primer and finaly have read that they would be the same colour as the exteriour of the tank.
Thanks Littletankman

Hi hatakashi,
Thanks for that , hey nice Kingtiger . Im afraid Im stuck on 1:16 scale for now. Im thinking of my Panther been produced around mid to late 1944 . As the G was out in 1945.
Thanks Andy

I'm not sure about Panther's Andy, but I know Tigers generally had the inside of hatches painted yellow or grey depending on the exterior colour, though some hatches were the ivory colour. I think it's mostly upto you though.
Hatakashi, would that be a 1/4 Panther? Or something a little smaller this time? lol
Cheers,
Rik

Hi Rik thanks mate . Yer Ive seen ivory but I have seen red primer to . I thought the lower half of the late war tanks was red primer but the turret , fighting compartment ivory . But I have heard that it was scrapped of because of paint splinters ?.

Rik, it should be a 1/6, but if the "long awaited" 1/4 Panther is good enough, I might get that insteadgrim_marmazet wrote: Hatakashi, would that be a 1/4 Panther? Or something a little smaller this time? lol![]()

Re: Intenal colour of lat war Panthers
From what I can find from the fittings, chin, mantlet cover etc, this Panther G is from around September '44 and would leave the factory painted in red oxide, in and out, with some brown, green and dark yellow patches added, no zimmerite. Thereafter probably anything goes

That is the beauty of modelling WWII tanks, there's so many 'in-field' modifications, you can get away with nearly anything!
