So Herr Bix, you owe us a detailed pic of the new link!!HERMAN BIX wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 7:01 pmG’day Mr J thanks for looking in.Jussek wrote: ↑Mon Feb 02, 2026 11:59 amI love the solution for the recoil, do you have tested it already? Does the servo's angular movement not transfer to the barrel and cause it to rotate even a fraction?HERMAN BIX wrote: ↑Mon Feb 02, 2026 8:57 am Cheers folks, I’m learning on the fly.
Still room in the turret for a TC and the servos are clear of the turret side doors.
best regards
It does wriggle a wee bit but I made another link which has reduced that to almost nothing.
Certainly less than a Taigen mechanism allows barrel bouncing & sloppiness.
Many Tamiya barrels are also bouncy & need a lot of work to correct.
I’d say the muzzle brake on this can wiggle one degree either side of zero when fired but is barely discernible.

Well, dont want to underwhelm you but its a much straighter link that is now crossing both sides of the barrel sleeve tube at a higher than mid point so it supports the entire barrel to stay in line with the muzzle brake.
Im all about simple & repeatable = maintainable so the system & hardware used reflects that.
Also, to some degree I need to leave some aspects not entirely finished or permanent so the owner can alter or adjust things to his ideal need.
Plus hes a mad painter so removing parts to get an optimum paint outcome is highly likely.
Got the turret rotation drive in place, again a good ole cheap & replaceable H/L unit.
Mounted on some harvested mounting pegs off an old hull.
This might need further support though, but the engine deck door is not fitted & the hull slopes back as it should so getting the unit in the ideal spot was a challenge.
The turret shell was secured by using the Trumpeter lugs at the top-front plate to locate it, and button magnets glued to the turret floor picking up steel strips also glued in place to the inside of the turret shell.
I used 2 magnets on each side so if it needs more oommph down the track it is easy enough to do.
Not a perfect fit but so close its not worth stressing over.

in this photo, are the black dots counterweights for the turret?
