Hi
I have an older HL Tiger I tank with all plastic tracks, idlers, drive wheels and all.
I would like to replace all these with metal parts and was wondering which hull would be better in this case:
the Toro half metal half plastic one
https://www.torro-shop.de/Metal-chassis ... scale-1-16
or Mato all metal
https://matotanks.com/product/mato-116- ... 79ecTDAB81
just trying to have some fun and give this old kitty some new life
Klem

Re: trying to fix an older Tiger I
Whenever I buy a Heng Long Tiger 1 at the same time I buy a Taigen/Torro Metal Hull,
My dealer of choice being

Dave has a nice choice of hulls, Well worth looking at.

I prefer the Torro / Taigen track tensioning system personally, but you can't go wrong either way... the Torro saves some weight by being partially plastic (thus saving long term wear & tear on your motors), but is still plenty sturdy

Re: trying to fix an older Tiger I
I would for me go with the Taigen/Torro hull as its a good bit cheaper and seems really robust
And as Jarndice said Forgebear is where to get it

Taigen lower is what I'd choose. First based on experience with their robust build and quality.
AND Second the Price!
https://www.forgebeartanks.com/store/p2 ... Scale.html
You could get the Taigen lower hull, Late Metal Wheels, Sprockets, Idlers and Tracks from them for less than the Mato hull alone at 168.34 Euro. That link you have shows 199. Euro just for the Mato lower hull.
Dave at Forgebear is a great dealer and even on this forum.

I went with Taigen lower as well. Heng Long upper hull and Taigen turret. I guess it’s a hybrid. Everything else is aftermarket.

Would love to know what is going on with Taigen/Torro. You used to be able to get the whole lower with it's arms and torsion bars with gearboxes, metal sprockets/idlers, tracks and roadwheels etc all in one. But they seem to have dried up along with the supply of most of the Taigen/Torro new stock. Even the German dealers have been sold out on quite a few of the models. Have they stopped making them? It would be a shame if they have
Re: trying to fix an older Tiger I
It's a good question. Taigen Tanks U.S. has let their stock of parts progressively dwindle down to nothing. I often look at their site and pick up parts that are left just to stock up since they also don't update their pricing often which makes what little parts they do still have left less to much less than Motion RC or paying tariffs for stuff that Is in stock in Europe. Dave at Forgebear might have some insight. I may just post this question up in another part of the forum to see what if anything anyone knows.Panzermechaniker wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 8:48 pm Would love to know what is going on with Taigen/Torro.
