Pete,

Here's the actual specs for the VVSS bogie.

Actual Size To 1/16 Scale Mato Mart Difference Percentage
A 19 1.188 1.25 -0.063 95%
B 17.5 1.094 1.125 -0.031 97%
C 11.75 0.734 0.750 -0.016 98%
D 8.375 0.524 0.594 -0.070 88%
E 20 1.250 1.313 -0.063 95%
Wheel to Wheel Spacing 33 2.063 2.156 -0.094 96%
Roller Wheel Diameter 9 0.563 0.563 0.000 100%

Sorry for the numbers getting all scrunched up, looks good when you write and edit! :?:

When you figure in the slight variations from all the foundries that made the Sherman one will notice detail and size differences between the factories, especially at the bottom of the Suspension Bracket where the gudgeons are.

Well done bubbajoe, given your detailed account of the Sherman this seems to solve one of the most negative aspects of the Mato Sherman.Saxondog

Thanks Bubbajoe!

This is how the hobby gets better folks! While Mato is working on getting the metal upgrade out to you this may well serve as a viable option.

Bubba, did you also run a sleeve with screws through the road wheels? Running through mulch last night I was able to split the arms apart on the wheel right behind the sprocket. The arms didn't break, just spread apart.

I think by shaving off the fake bolts, inserting a sleeve from arm to arm through the wheel, then washers on each end and a nut and bolt it will hold together real nice. Dab of loctite on the nut and you'll be good to go! What do you think?

Im looking forward to seeing how your mod was done. With regards to the wheels hitting each other, could you use the Tamiya wheels? Are they smaller than the Mato ones?
Cheers,

so far what bubba has posted hasn't been biased at all,(too tell the truth i didn't even know he worked for a model company) although some of the comments aimed at him by one or two very ignorant people are nothing more than bitchiness at its best, i have read all of the posts by swath and bubba on some of the other forums and still feel this is a badly made badly designed tank, there seems to be a lot of damage control going on now which still hasn't made me change my mind.
