I have dealt with Forgebear tanks on numerous occasions and found them to be top notch and very helpful

Hey Guys
!
Yeah I've checked Forgebear previously as well, but their stuff seems to be on a bit of a more Premium side for me just now

Anyways,
I'm quite excited for my Heng Long KT as the Product Code states, it's the 'king tiger 3888A-1' and also has the 'Upgraded' keyword in the title, so should have the metal tracks and the 2x metal wheels I imagine

Looks like if you bought the £133 model you get plastic. If you paid £203, you get metal tracks and looks like sprockets and idlers, and "metal" gearboxes. HL is a crafty company so watch out for the words "metal" and "steel". Steel is machined steel, but metal is cast zinc alloy/white metal/pot metal whatever you want to call it. Noisy little beggars.
So whatcha gettin'?!
Mike.

While I recommended Andrew Haya above, that takes nothing away from Forgebear. Dave at Forgebear has seen many recommendations here on RCTW . The care to do well warrants a bit more cost.

The words 'Upgraded' is confusing me a bit... I am not sure what is 'upgraded' unless they mean upgraded to v7.0 etc... But who knows lol... Haya UK just replied to me saying I should get my KT on Monday as they use Parcelforce 48

The 7.0 has been in their tanks for quite a few years as standard, so I think HL is stretching time a bit. Upgraded from the 27mhz, 5.3, 6.0, 6.1 MFU's before the 7.x's, I guess! No matter, you'll like the tank even if it is all plastic. The plastic gearboxes are quite robust and quieter than the steel or metal ones. Plastic tracks look cool and are hefty, but necessary? Loads of people run the plastic with no issues. I've got 10+ tanks and only two have metal tracks--because I bought them used that way. No issues so far, and probably easier on the motors.VVhitesnake wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 4:32 pmHey manColemanCollector wrote: ↑Fri Jan 09, 2026 2:17 pm Looks like if you bought the £133 model you get plastic. !
Used to buy Airsoft stuff 2nd hand before, sometimes can get some good decent stuff out there. Btw, I've not found any Community market places for 2nd hand RC Tanks
