Toucan Hobby

Post by Snake »

for those looking for a quick turn around on a henglong, I would suggest avoiding Toucan Hobby. I ordered a 1/16th scale Henglong King Pro from them, through Amazon, thinking I would have additional protections, and get a product faster, as it was shipping from the U.S., boy was that a mistake. they charged an additional $65 for shipping. I took delivery in just under a week, I think it was 5 days. The product fell out of the box in pieces. When we requested a return for the Item, it cost another $95 to ship it back to them. They are so slow to respond, i had no choice to pay the ridiculous shipping charge, because the window for return was closing, and i didnt want to get stuck with a $300 pile of parts. long story short, I paid $150 in shipping for a $300 tank, that I now dont have. Im still waiting for any sort of response from them to see if they are willing to make any attempts to make this right. will keep you all posted!

I am sorry for your unfortunate experience. In the past five years I have ordered more than once from Toucan Hobby and had no problem whatsoever. I order directly from their web site. One does need to be careful, as other vendors on eBay and Amazon masquerade as Toucan Hobby, and there is even a web site with a similar URL, but is not actually Toucan Hobby.

Here's an interesting thread chronicling a weird Amazon/Toucan Hobby purchase involving a busted up Abrams complete with dog slobber. Toucan did a good job getting things taken care of for the new owner, so there's hope!

Better to buy through AliExpress, cheaper and the returns are free

OP, Yours is an anomaly experience most likely with a Scammer Toucan which is known in the community and by the real company Toucan RC Hobby themselves. They even have a warning on their web page warning about these scammers.

For starters they issue a warranty card with every new tank and they do not require the purchaser to pay return shipping for damaged or items with issues.

I've had quite a bit experience with Toucan both with their US warehouses where I live and their China based warehouses and nothing but solid experience from them. I've also dealt with them for items that have arrived damaged from shipping or missing parts and have never been left hanging. They have credited my account and sent new parts as requested as well as offered to allow me to return the item for full refund if I wasn't satisfied.

What I can share is that prices on tanks are negotiable. You just need to use that pop conversation and discuss it with them. This is a cultural thing in China that is actually pretty cool if you know that the market prices are and what others offer things priced at.

Shipping charges are also negotiable and reduced to the point of being removed especially when buying something over $200 especially in the states.

There are other good vendors like MotionRC but Toucan can provide some great deals if you're willing to wheel and deal and take your time.

lastly, 2 things to consider when having communications with them. 1. Time Delay. It often takes a day or 2 for conversations to be answered and deals made.& 2. English is not their native language. So using basic terms and words that are easier to translate will help the communications along much better.
