Is Hooben a dirty word?

Mark IV is pain in the ass to build, mine is still in progress because internal mechanisms of sponsons are very flimsy. Mine Ferdinand is on the shelf in parts because elements of suspension are broken. This is another drawback of the Hooben – spare parts are almost impossible to find. This isn't Heng Long, where you can buy each component separately.

I have the Hooben T-55, as have others here. It was a difficult but ultimately rewarding build. I bought the basic model, and used Heng Long 7.1 electrics. I don’t claim any special skills, but it does require a certain amount of experience, and good tools. I had no interaction with Hooben themselves, so can’t comment there.null’s brawl
It’s now a good tanks and runs well, the only iffy bit being the barrel recoil, which works - just. There’s quite a lot of advice/info available on line.

For the Hooben tanks (like the Tiger, T-55, or Elefant), what is the most straightforward and common electronics upgrade path? Can I simply drop in a Clark TK-series or a Tamiya TBU, or does it require significant modification to fit?
