Humbrol spray acrylics.
Hi, just got my new Tiger and want to paint it like pic below, trouble is I've not used my air brush to paint anything this big before, I think its Tamiya Xf 60, idealy I would buy a tamiya aerosol TS but these are no longer available, has any one used Humbrol spray acrylics and does anyone know the nearest Humbrol shade to the Tamiya XF60? Choice is between 63 'sand' and 93 'desert yellow' . Thanks.

Re: Humbrol spray acrylics.
Humbrol aerosols are OK - i've used Dark Brown 29 for 'dusting' my tanks.
Humbrol 63 is equivalent to XF 59 according to my paint chart.
I've just checked a tin of Humbrol 93 against XF60 on the bench and they look very close.
The paint chart says 84 but that looks way off.

Yes I checked on Humbrol site using their conversion chart and they said Tamiya xf60 is eq to hum 84, I agree it looks a bit off.

Re: Humbrol spray acrylics.
Use your airbrush and tam acrylics mate. You will get a much better finish than with the humbrol 'rattle' cans.

Re: Humbrol spray acrylics.
What ratio of thinners to paint and should I use Tamiya's own thinner when using the air brush ??

Re: Humbrol spray acrylics.
I use around 60% paint and 40% thinners. The paint should be the same consistency as milk.Andicog wrote:What ratio of thinners to paint and should I use Tamiya's own thinner when using the air brush ??
The KT has a lot of large panels, take your time and give each panel a single light coat of paint. I find that tam acrylics don't show there correct shade until they have dried properly. So give it at least 24 hours before you add the next coat of paint, or decide it doesn't need another coat.
Hope this helps
