Paint wearing off metal on edges that come into frequent contact are to be expected but what is visible in those photos seems excessive. Especially the plastic parts - even with significant flexing or taking an impact.

That being said, I note the OP uses the engine hatch so the hull shouldn't be flexing that much.

The silver bits on the plastic upper hull - have they undersprayed with silver and the top layer has come off or have they just gone a bit over the top with the weathering?
I'm not to sure all I know is that the silver was a attempt at weathering it but it's coming off with the paint.

Take the plunge and prime/repaint the whole thing properly. Torro/Taigen factory paint jobs are okay but nothing like you can do yourself. You are definitely on the right website to get advice. I was terrified when I bought my first Tamiya Tiger on how was I ever going to produce a proper paint job. Between spending many pleasurable hours during Covid lockdown reading all the build logs here and picking up tips from the likes of Panzermeister and NightShift and a guy who explained how to do tri-coloured panzers with rattle cans and camo putty I actually produced something I wasn't embarrassed of. Give it a shot. You won't regret it

Well all I can say if you already know how to paint then your issues with the factory job should be easy. This site isn't like the scale modeller/rivet counter ones. Nobody is going to crap on your finished model if you do want to show it to us here. I'm a terrible painter. I had to get good at weathering :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

People have some strong opinions about Hooben. I would ask around first before you purchase.
