M8 Greyhound (AHHQ RC conversion)

Post by MonsieurTox »

Hello, maybe some of those familiar with my builds have already spotted it in the background of some of my pics, this is a conversion I have started a year ago but put aside.
I've started to work again in it this weekend, this is a RC conversion of the static AHHQ M8 Greyhound.
It won't be a fancy build, Iw as originally planned a 6X6 transmission but I've learned with the DUKW that it was quite a nightmare so I changed my plan and I'm going for a 2X6 only, please don't blame me for being so lazy, I just want it done. 😂

I'm using the front axle from the kit, I just made suspension from brass, not ideal but considering the weight of the M8, it works just fine.
For the rear, I'm using brass and steel for the suspension. The middle axle is the one that will be powered, the rear one is loose.

I was considering making rubber tires like I did for the DUKW but once again I played the lazy side and will use the stock plastic tires.

I don't know if I will be able to make a working turret on it, with all the openings, we see a lot of the inside and I prefer to get some interesting and accurate things to see than some rotation unit. 😂

Around a mug :haha:

I bought the steel ones (they were left over of my DUKW).

And there was me hoping that you had discovered some magic rolling machine that would turn out brass strip to a set radius :haha:

I agree that keeping as much of the detail of the Greyhound kit is a fine choice. Yes, sir, you are a master.
