Back on ér folks, & thanks for the encouragement, I genuinely appreciate it.
One thing to build these things for your own pleasure, quite another to put them up before your peers, so thanks all for continuing to look in & comment.

Decided that the welds were of sufficient numbers & placement to call them done & get the thing in one(or two) colours.
On with the last of the Mr Surfacer 500 spray I had to cover the entire upper & see where any lumps & bumps were hiding.
A minor touch up on the commanders hatch modification & that was it really.
Its Spring here, but its already been 36C here on the Goldy yesterday, & a delightful 23C at 0700hrs this morning , so easy able to dry the '500 and then..............whack on the red primer. YyyeeeeeSSSSss 8) love the smell of primer in the morning .
Also used the last of my TS3 Dark Yellow to cover the bulk of the lower so I can use the proper top coat frugally.
Still need to do the shadowing black on the vents & crevices.
Now its Moto GP from Indonesia & Gin & Tonics along the way....................& its only 01140hrs here right this second

Shadow on.
Im deciding now whether or not to punch thru the base coast today or hold off.
Its a long weekend here (God Save The King &^his Birthday) so I have time to do it if I steer away from it today.

AAAaaaaand I couldn't help meself...........................the basecoat is on.
Used the last drop of my mystery Dunkelgelb blend to cover this with a thin sheen of colour to take the dreaded but necessary green spiderweb camo pattern.
I will be airbrushing it.
The same/similar pattern I did back in my early days of this caper on a StuG , but that was with a new airbrush that had its smaller needle & seat fitted.
Now its got 12 years on it, and the large needle is probably blown out way beyond its correct use by date & the finer stuff has long since gone in the bin.
Ahh well, use whatcha got ;)
Its a Tank Destroyer model, not the roof of the Sistine Chapple. !!

Bix, did I see red oxide primer with gray over that and then the base coat of Dunkelgelb? I am curious about why you added the gray.

The grey was Mr Surfacer 500 spray mate.
To level the surface and add texture, plus highlight any spots that needed attention before painting.
Then the oxide, then DG .
The pics load out of order for some reason .

Well here we go, for better or worse the camo pattern is on & that despite the realisation that my ole airbrush is way too old & worn out.
Sputtering & staying on, thats the worst thing, cant release the trigger & it stops, then I get overspray dots :/
Its done every tank in my life, not bad really considering its a no-name brand from a local chain automotive store.
But, it's shagged...............the needle & nozzle options are burnt out ages ago & its what it is.
Cant weep over what might have been, but Im on notice to get a new one...........

Going to be up to wash, pigment & weathering to save it. :eh:
I am trying to get a Kursk Ferdinand, over a later Elephant & there are differences, & the camo options for this very narrow band of timeline are limited on a good day & I have made it even narrower by picking a specific vehicle being 722 of the 654th with features that are signature from the limited period pictures !!

She's right, we'll get er...............

Well, Mr. B, it looks quite good to me!
But you can judge it way better.
If it is not 100% for you, a wash and so might cover up some bad spots.
And in the end, nobody will notice!
So don‘t be so hard on yourself, it looks good!
