Super glue
Annoying when you grab the super glue and its gone off in the tube/bottle
But if you keep it in the fridge it wont go off as quick and keeps liquid for ages
apologies if you already know this wee trick

Re: Super glue
Thanks! There's plenty of room in this old widower's 'fridge, so the super glue is going in pronto.

Re: Super glue
I usually go through at least on of the little tubes just gluing pins in tracks. I've had a few cracks in the Kranvagn by picking it up from the side skirts, but a little MEK and they were good to go again. Kinda the reason I stopped using ASA filament as the layer adhesion wasn't as good as ABS. I also had a resin antenna mount break, but I drilled a hole in the mount bottom and the broken part. I then used a metal rod and CA to fix it.Panzermechaniker wrote: ↑Thu Sep 11, 2025 10:27 pm Tell me about it. Everytime I touch this 3D Conqueror I'm working on I break/knock off so much stuff I have to order another 15 gram of krazy glue from Amazon right away.

Re: Super glue
I use a Loctite Gel sits resistant to high impact .
Takes a wee while to set so a degree of manipulation is available.
It’s $10 a bottle and I burn 4 per model on average
It’s a standard purchase if we are out & about, even the kids say “Dad do you need glue while we are out “

Re: Super glue
As many of you already know, cyanoacrylate's best holding ability is in line with the joint. Sideways to the joint, or any angle to the joint, the cyanoacrylate is actually quite weak. Whenever feasible, I use "E6000." (I think "Shoo Goo" is the same.) This glue has a slower setting time and as a result actually holds much better in all directions. What is more, it still flexes a bit after completely drying. However, it can also be stringy and is thick, so messing the model a bit is a risk (true of cyanoacrylates, too). Fortunately, E6000 can be sanded and painted. Nonetheless, I do use the Loctite cyanoacrylates, too.

Re: Super glue
I try to avoid using glue but when I do I have found GORILLA Superglue to be very effective and it is the first of the various cyannacrylate glue's on the market where I can get the top off of the bottle every time all the way to the bottom of the little bottle.
But where possible I will tap a thread and put a nut and bolt in place or use my Butane torch and Liquid solder using PE.
Many ways to swing a cat without using glue.
