My old Leopard and me

Post by Andy in Cheltenham »

Hi

I'm a long termer when it comes to RC. I started off with cars and then I bought my elder brothers Leopard 1A4 off him in 1983. I used it a lot until the gearbox wore out, I got a new free replacement from RIKO (the old importer) and used it until that wore out and the tracks kept falling off. Last year I got it out of my friends loft and started buying parts to repair it again. I'm an ex tant modeller and have always loved tanks (my girlfriend just rolls her eyes a lot) Anyway I digress.....It's sitting with a coat of primer on it as I change it to an AS1 version as used by the Aussies. I've sourced what could be the last gearbox from Tamiya (not cheap) and I've been buying stuff from two excellent websites in Germany. I'm not fussed about installing a DMD, but I intend to get the turret rotating and barrel elevating. But I've hit a bit of a wall, We have a baby on the way (end of Jan) and therfore all work has stopped until further notice. The only thing that will get me going again is some second hand stuff like an RC unit (4 channel) I've installed a leccy speed controller, I have a Futaba 2 ch that can be fitted, all I really want is a receiver and transmitter with enough channels. Then I'll started getting the cammo sorted and the ID finsihed. I need a bit of a push and a was wandering if I could meet up at an event one day. I live in Cheltenham by the way.

I Look forward to meeting some fellow tankers one day. The only tank I've ever seen is mine :haha:

Ah! Luton isn't too far I suppose, just need to know when.
Are there any events coming up for Bovington. My parents live not too far from there.

Thanks
