Re: HL Panzer III
Great question on the styrene thickness question Mr. Chef. I love my HL PZIII. It is the cheapest tank I own even with all the Jarlath modifications and the correct size aftermarket barrel. What a brilliant specialist IR battler it is. But the huge Airsoft bin bothers me. I have a proper sized replacement for it but just would like to know all the details of the surgery required
Re: HL Panzer III
Interesting builds Eric.
Just out of curiousity.....are you going to raise the support rollers too on that Panzer III, or even on the StuG too?
I recently did that on my current StuG III project, and I must admit it makes quite a difference.
Regards,
Rob.
In the next pic you see on of my other HL StuGs with those returnrollers in the position HL thought they had to be, next to my current project:

Re: HL Panzer III
Looks good Rob. Has it caused any problem with the tracks coming off? When I first got my el cheapo HL the tracks were always splitting or coming off at the field until got the right tightness on them (not using metal just the stock plastic ones) Now it's a fantastic little runner and in a year I have only had the tracks split once and that was due to very hot pavement
Re: HL Panzer III
No clue, still building the model.
No outdoor rides yet!
But I thightend the tracks a bit with the stock tensioners in the meanwhile.
Busy with the hangers for the Schürzen right now.

Re: HL Panzer III
Hey Eric, first how is this project coming along?
And
Second, how thick is the styrene sheet you used to cover the gap on the rear of the turret? 1mm, .75mm, .5mm?
TIA
Anton

These repairs were .080" or 2mm, but most of my styrene is .060" these days as .080 is hard to find in the rural areas.

Re: HL Panzer III
I knew of the drop on the rear idler on the PzIV but have not heard of the raised idlers in the PzIII or Stug until now. Thank you for the information, I will make some mods soon.Rob59 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:20 pm Interesting builds Eric.

Raising the return rollers won't be happening for me. Chalk that up on my list of stuff I won't appreciate and looks nice but not worth it for me.
