Testors dull coat alternative
Hi fellow tankers. Because of where I now live there is not much in the way of a dull coat option available . One product that is available locally at Bunnings hardware is Rust Oleum 2x flat clear in a spray can. Has any one used this. I have always used Testors spray and even if I wanted to there seems to be no stock in New Zealand. I know of the Tamiya flat clear. Any advise on alternatives .Regards John.

Re: Testors dull coat alternative
I have a few cans of Testor's Dullcote left, but I have already tried the RustOleum 2X flat with no problem whatsoever.

I really like the mission models clear, the Matt on is my favourite. I tried the flat clear and actually found it too flat!

Other than the smell and one very defective spray can (it accidentally gave me a good casting finish so I kept it on my turret
) I am a Testors Dullcote fan myself. It is still stocked in Canada although my go to Tamiya flat clear spray is banned. I have tried AK's big matte varnish spray can. It's okay but nowhere near as good as Tamiya or Dullcote

Re: Testors dull coat alternative
I have and use the Rustoleum matte clearcoat. It is enamel based. That's important if you plan to weather with enamels or oils and enamel thinners/mineral/white spirits after you lay it down. Testors Dullcote and Tamiya clearcoats are Lacquer which won't be effected by enamel.

Plus all the health benefits of inhaling lacquer fumes.
But I should be dead already 100 times over already from inhaling spray cans from my working life

Re: Testors dull coat alternative
Thanks for the reply's guys. It will be Tamiya TS80 for me as I intend to weather in Enamel. The hobby shop I used to deal with has informed me that Testors dull coat is no longer in production so grab what you can. John.

TS-80 is the best. I still have 4 cans hoarded. Not as dull as testors but multiple coats will do it
