Work continues slowly but surely. I've been changing some details on the engine deck to undo some of the inaccuracies in the Tamiya kit. First step was to fill the countersunk bolts in the centre plate and replace with some Meng bolt heads in the correct position. I cut off the two blobs where the rear door stops should be and made some replacements out of brass strip and removed and filled the incorrect armored fuel filler cap. The radio antenna block on the rear of the superstructure went as well.

Next I made a new fuel cap out of two sheets of styrene and added some detail to the kit part. The molded tow cable brackets went and were replaced with photo etch parts and some other stock kit parts were added.

Then I went to work detailing the crew heater which is a bit of a job in itself. I added some missing bolts on the side, removed some of the molded on parts and added some photo etch. I'm using the Voyager grills kit which is a bit thinner than the Aber version but also considerably less expensive. My photo etch experience is pretty minimal but it seems to be coming together well so far. Still a bit of work on the holder for the "pie slices" but its getting close and it's not a bad result.
