WCP SdKFz. 251: Herr Doc at it again
I am starting in on Will and Catherine's WCP SdKFz. 251, in primer as Will sent it, but with tracks and wheels removed:
First off: the electronics. Am I on the right track (pun intended) with this sort of item (recommendations welcome)?
And this kind of set up?

Or am I, as Foghorn says? https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/f3bfe497-4 ... 5c175800bf

That speed controller is tremendously powerful. 320A is A LOT.
All my tanks eat a maximum of 10A.
The torro 251 had enough with less than 2A.
Even the monster 1/6 panzer I worked on several weeks ago, had enough with 30A, so go and figure.
So, my tip is look for something much smaller and cheaper.
The 10A should be OK.

Thank you for the alert and the link, Rad. I did not know if I was even looking at the correct sort of electronics, much less the 30A limit (that accounts for the fan on the ESC). But your link seems to show exactly what I need.

WCP RC MODELS or anyone else familiar with Will and Catherine's SdKFz. 251. I have a correct ESC just as Rad recommended above. With two different configurations of the FlySky receiver for my FlySky iX6, I am ready to get it all running. But I'm not sure there is room under the hood for both ESC and receiver. I do see various hex set screws on the WCP 251, but I am not sure there is any place to hide electronics in the belly of the beast. Has anyone recommendations?

Hello professor,
Most receiver's are housed in a rather large bulky hard outer case for protection, with restricted space such as this you can remove the outer case and you'll be surprised how much smaller it actually is, I do this for my smaller builds such as the wcp jeeps. To be on the safe side I use clear heat shrink tubing and put a sleeve over the receiver just to make sure that the components don't touch anything else or get knocked off, hope this helps
Cheers, Lee.

Hey there, sorry for slow reply, i would strongly advise against sticking the electrics in the base as the torsion bars springs take up alot of space. The orginal plan was to throw them under the floor but i opted for a rugged sprung base.
I have made for others a faux radio set in the passenger compartment which they can hide batteries or other electrics behind.
On my 251 i managed to fit the esc in the front, but its bloody tight and a right pain to wire, but the downside is it sits directly above the dual 370 motors. Not ideal, but again i opted for power so it could drive thru offroad terrain and not stall like many 1/16 models seem to do.
One customer did in fact cover the back with a tarp and put other accessories in the back to hide his electrics, but went 6cell NiMh pack which to me was a bit odd as it has an extremely short run time, Lipo/Li-ion is only real way to go on these models
If you need detail send an email across Ed, your CCKW is awaiting a prime before posting

I forgot to add, i will have the new control board for my 251 hopefully soon which has sounds and all sorts cool extras designed in, so will be able to feedback in near future how that goes as it uses a Clark board and lots of mods which are way beyond my simple mind

Thank you for the idea! A "faux radio set in the passenger compartment" could work well for me, as I have lots of 3D printed radio stuff from Battleground Models. Then, too, a tarp would create lots of room.
