WW2 rail gun.

I've not been building a lot lately but still been looking in and keeping my finger on the pulse
I'm still in the process of planning my oo gauge ww2 themed layout and have been buying bits and pieces here and there for it.
This is a recent purchase of mine, it's a ww2 British railgun named ( H.M.G GLADIATOR ) even in oo gauge it measures roughly 350mm, the wagon in tow I converted from a refrigerated van that I had to accompany it as it's ammunition van ( as if it wasn't big enough already ) they were used in ww1 and then brought back into service for ww2 albeit with different guns, they were used on the south coast as a defense against the threat of a channel invasion which luckily never happened on a large scale.

Not being in or from the UK, I check on the scale of OO: it's 1/76 but apparently shares the track with what in the U.S. is called HO. I use O Gauge, 1/48 scale. Nonetheless, I enjoy all trains, so I am grateful for your showing photos. I will certainly look for more and progress on your layout.
Does OO use any sound? With what engine(s) do you plan to pull the railgun. Oh, I could ask so much more.

Hello professor,

The UK are one of the only countries that use the OO gauge scale, as you pointed out, the U.S adopt the 1:87 Ho scale along with the majority of European countries.
Yes OO can use sound, it's more accessible using Dcc ( digital command control ) as the locos have a dcc chip fitted which can be programmed with the controller for many functions, sound can also be used on DC layouts but it's a bit more limited than a Dcc setup.
The rail gun will be hauled by an austerity loco of which I have a few, I have been slowly collecting engines and rolling stock from the era around ww2 and plan on running different trains such as tank transport trains, ambulance trains etc

This is one of my austerity 2-8-0 locos, during ww2 a lot of engines were painted black as time and resources were often limited causing the upkeep and maintenance to be a bit lacking compared to earlier years.

I recently started getting back into model railways.
Needless to say the moment I discovered these I put in a pre-order for both Boche Buster and Gladiator as they are getting re-released at some point this year.

I hope some day someone makes a decent 1/76 Covenanter to go with all the available warflat wagons.

There are some nice warflat and warwell wagons out there now, I have a rake of 6 oxford rail warwells with Sherman's on ready for transport and I'm currently converting a set of older warflat wagons that will be used as a churchill tank train, I've used mostly 1/76 kit models for my vehicle's with a couple of diecast and resin one's thrown in for good measure

Your 2-8-0 is superbly weathered, but I'd bet it has all the latest electronics. Do I see a safety blanket over the cylinder housing? I know it looks similar to the safety blankets used on pulling tractor engines and transmission which are subject to exploding from abusively high torque loads.

Here for derision is a short video of my "toy rail/high rail" layout. Nineteen years ago I painted on the grass, weeds, one asphalt road, one and 3/4 of track in 1/48 scale miles, and a seven-track yard. I just run trains, have some stock already-assembled buildings, some scratchbuilt, and some of paper. Whatever strikes my fancy--I indulge.
