Not cheap in China

Post by Tankie »

Just back from Beijing. I was hopeful that I might be able to pick up a HL for a good price-not a chance.  Couldn't find any HL but saw a WSN T34 for £120!!!  Forces of Valor stuff was also more than UK prices.  Their shop prices are higher than ours for most goods.

Quite right. Last time I was there (2007) I saw very little in the way of models/modelmaking. However the shop at the military museum was selling non s&s HL for £38 and they also had some 1/24 r/c stuff that I wasn't familiar with. Unfortunately the shop was almost always closed.  Also on display (in the museum) they had some beautifully built 1/10 scale models which looked to be r/c and had obviously been run by the state of the tracks.

I think everything they produce goes for export and you might have done better in HK.

Were you there as a visitor or working?

I also went to china on april09, the price of s&s tigerI(plastic tracks&gears) in the airport shop is 80US$(after reduction). I bought m41a3 in bangkok at the same price(S&S also). No time to check the outside shops.
