I use several Mig/ammo products - modern vehicle wash and my own mix of burnt umber and black thinned.

Beautiful work here. Is this static? Or is it an RC?

I really want to do a Tamiya mid after this thread too and on eBay there is a NIB Tiger 1 for less than 1K Canadian all in which is amazing considering the state of our dollar but now apparently Atak will not send his zimmerit kits to Canada any more. You just can't win in Canuckistan. I think the one work around is that I have a buddy in the UK who will get it shipped to him.
