No. This is a remnant of the old 27 Mhz HL system. In Panzer III the antenna was on the right side. In the folded position, secured with wooden strip.

To remove the aerial open the tank and place the tip of a soldering iron on the base BUT only long enough to soften the plastic,
It should pull straight out.
