I watched a pirate copy on You Tube a while back, and then again on Netflix last week.

Great movie,.just overlook the silly tiger vs sherman tactics. Fury had a high velocity 76 and could have punched holes in the tigers front.but it's still great

Yea it's great, and like any ww2 move you got to overlook the silly stuff to enjoy it. Like the open vision block on the tiger in priv Ryan

Fury also seems to have an upgraded cannon as opposed to the other 3. 75mm was standard.
is it a 76mm?

Some problems with the movie but still entertaining.

75 (shorter barrel) was the standard in the beginning of the war, eventually the 76 (on the film's Fury) was adopted and became standard through the end of the war. The anticipated 76 had some better penetration against German armor, but was nowhere as good as the British 17 pounder. The 75 had a better high explosive round compared to the 76, so both guns were in use throughout the war.

The US did testing on the 17 pounder at Aberdeen Proving Grounds against the 90mm US gun. They were looking to find a higher penetration gun than the 76mm used in the Sherman. They weren't specifically looking to replace the 76mm gun in the Sherman with the 17 pounder. This new gun would be fielded in US tank destroyers. The 17 pounder gun provided to the US by the British did have higher penetration than the 75 and 76mm guns. They also determined that the 17 pounder gun had a higher dispersion than the current 76 and 90mm guns they had tested at ranges of 500-2000 meters. At that point, they US made the decision to stay with the 76mm for the Sherman and field the US 90mm gun in the new tank destroyers.
