Thanks again for all the input. The Radiomaster may be a bit of overkill for my needs. I see other radios mentioned here and Flysky comes up. The Flysky FX-16 is a 10 channel unit. Is it any better than the stock Taigen radio?

Hello, it is not at all comparable 8O Taigen is specific for tanks, and will not work with anything other than its dedicated board, the other standard radios (planes, helicopters) are programmable and work with a separate receiver, but you will have to change the electronics of the tank. It all depends on what you want? If it's more to play occasionally? keep what you have, or replace with TK6/7 Heng long type models, but it will always be a frozen transmitter!! If you want to have a more realistic driving with more functions, you have to change the electronics, and a standard programmable radio with separate receiver (aircraft, helicopter type) the one you mention 10 channels is already not bad, and used, by number of members here. I recommend reading Rad's Blog ( Jimster's link ), you will find and learn a lot of things

If you have the Taigen V3 as shown in the graphic below, yes, you can use your own transmitter. See the right side of the graphic, How to Use Your Own Transmitter

As the Doctor shows above, the Taigan board is probably the cheapest way to get into the game of using your own choice of transmitter. Does it offer a more refined driving experience (sounding like a fullbore Jaguar or Cadillac sales pitchman!), I dunno. I was all set to transition over to Taigan/aftermarket TX on my tanks, tried a HL 6.0 tank and decided that it was pretty nice and met my needs.
