Cheap barrel smoke

Post by ankh »

Currently we have two main options for barres smoke:
- wire directly additional smoke unit to the smoker port (heater CN 11) and BB port (motor to CN10) - this is either very short puff (when BB not in use) or far too long with stock configuration (BB enabled via the switch)
- buy special circuit which is rather expensive and hard to get

I did in the past a mod using Arduino but this may not be for everybody (https://youtu.be/wfzIjgGD-kM).
Here is a cheap and easy solution which requires pretty much no soldering.
All you need to do is to connect additional time delay board (widely available, some links with examples below). The power for that circuit comes either from Wi-fi port CN5 (G+S to switch on/off), also wire the heater as per diagram below.
The program I use is 2.2, then set up start delay called OP (I set it to 0.2s), and running time CC (0.4s) - plenty of tutorials on youtube. Gun flash LED as usual to port LED1. Bridge port CN6 (BB switch).
The diagram below shows board 7.0 but this will work with any 6.0 or higher or similar boards.

How this works: when you press fire buttons, CN10 is powered on sending voltage signal to the board, gun LED flashes. After predefined time (OP) the board powers the smoker motor pushing the puff for short time you set (CC). Don't forget about bridging CN6 port. Keep in mind the smoker heater and the board must be on (G+S on the remote) and the heater works constantly (same as with the dedicated barrel flash circuit)

And finally links to the board I got but do your research as prices may have changed since my post:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001 ... 1802KaIckk
Pay attention to get the board rated DC 5V-36V, MOS not relay one (no large blue component).

I hope this will help.
