Whippet - 1/16 RC
Whippet - 1/16 RC
Hi, I just want to share with you my latest build.
WW1 Whippet tank. This is based on static model available here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/whi ... edium-tank
I decided to build it after completing my Hooben Mark IV, big fan of early designs.
3d printed: main body in PLA, tracks and details in resin.
Electronis: dual ESC, DasMikro for tank sounds, DF Player and a small sugarcube speaker for background sound, Heng Long smoker (modified, motor replaced with a fan), MG flash, cab light.
Unfortunately I used too weak motors. All was fine when I was testing (floor tiles). After building and painting I tested again on a carpet and it struggles turning. Lesson learned. Not a major disaster, I just need to replace JGY-370 motors. I'm thinking 35kg servo modified to run as a motor should work perfectly.
Anyway, several photos and a video below.

Great build! Kind of surprised my brother hasn't chimed in, I think he saw those in action....

That is outstanding! In the words of Devo:
Crack that whip
Give the past a slip
Step on a crack
Break your mama's back
When a problem comes along
You must whip it
Before the cream sits out too long
You must whip it
When something's going wrong
You must whip it
Now whip it
Into shape
Shape it up
Get straight
Go forward
Move ahead
Try to detect it
It's not too late
To whip it
Whip it good
When a good time turns around
You must whip it
You will never live it down
Unless you whip it
No one gets away
Until they whip it
I say whip it
Whip it good
I say whip it
Whip it good
Crack that whip
Give the past a slip
Step on a crack
Break your mama's back
When a problem comes along
You must whip it

You must whip it

Thanks Guys,
Really happy with that tank except those underpowered motors, how I managed to do it? So silly mistake. But fixable, just needs a small surgery.
I'll take a break and do Ferdinand first as I want something simple but the next one I will publish here with more photos.
My plan was to do Tsar but when I calculated the size of it in 1/16... I don't have space for that! That leaves me with either Schneider or more likely Matilda I.

I was thinking about documenting one of my builds as I've not seen anybody adopting similar approach (redesigning existing static 3d models).
