Ok, I have learnt something else:
Due to the Nyquist limit, a 22Khz sample rate is limited to 11Khz maximum sound reproduction. Just over half the human hearing range. 44Khz is good to 22Khz, covering the entire human range, plus a little.

Update: I managed to replace the sounds at my will. The quality is not what I wished, but better than nothing,
I guess I overlooked something related with the sound quality, but now it works as expected.
