Re: King Tiger (henschell)
I really would suggest you use Metal Etching Primer on all the metal parts THEN Red Oxide Primer (It was what German Armour 1938/1945 used as a primer ) after that your pretty much on your own
I think I am about to upset someone
Re: King Tiger (henschell)
But what I'm saying is why do I need to red oxide the whole tank?

Re: King Tiger (henschell)
Your the one trying to build an authentic model of a German Tiger 2 and it was primed in red oxide and often delivered from the factory in that colour to forward workshops where the top coat would be applied although some Tanks did receive a full paint job at the factory prior to delivery.
BUT it is your Tank and you are free to paint it in any colour or combination of colours that you want

For info
KT de Rad, member of the forum, and representative of the model leaving the factory, with anti-rust primer, and the various markings

if it had been a Panther, could paint it pink

Re: King Tiger (henschell)
No you don’t need red primer - unless you want to simulate where the base paint came off and exposed the primer underneath. Lots of folks here do it and then you don’t see any red once the Dunkelgelb goes on, except inside hatches. Even then it should be off-white inside the personnel compartments. Just my two-pence worth.
Re: King Tiger (henschell)
Some metal parts turned up today.
Unfortunately it seems there is only 2 towing cables in metal. The other cables on the side of the KT aren't supplied. Don't know what to do about that yet
