1/35 Dragon IDF M60 DOZER Tank >DSM2 RRC Video

Post by modler »

Have had this project on the back burner for a while and I finally caught up with model projects in the works and now have started on the DOZER project.
This project involves two 1/35 scale tank models.

1st model is a Academy M60m A1 motorized remote control (twin motor wired remote). I chose this model due to its robust gearbox which is a nylon plastic gearbox which is well designed and will outlast the equivalent Tamiya and or Mokie metal gear boxes.

2nd model is the very detailed and elaborate Dragon IDF M60 with Dozer blade. It is possible that later I may build the IDF M60 and upgrade it to a motorized Tank using the gearbox from the Academy model.

So to expedite the Dozer Tank build I will start with the excellent Academy model and develop the servo linkage for the Dozer using the Academy Tank for the initial design phase. Round two is always better and I will keep the Dragon model in reserve for phase 2 design should it evolvew that way.
Anyway, here are some pictures of what I have so far...

You have done well to cram the electronics in there.

This looks fantastic.

I am eager to see your future progress

One of the regular Tuesday modeling group at my house is a USMC Vietnam Vet. About two years apart, we each built the Tamiya Walker Bulldog, and older but nice kit. (The instructions have the lower hull reinforcing wall backwards; watch it.) We both discovered that Tamiya sells an OD and and OD 2. Though the color is anacronistic for WWII, he prefers the latter (it is sharp) and is sneaking it on an M4 Sherman now. Did you use something like that on your M60?

It looks like a lot of electronics because of the connectors I added to the DSM receiver.I removed the tall 3 pin connectors then installed micro 3 pin connectors so what you are seeing in the pictures are the wires from the 3 pins connectors on the 6 channel RX. The Dozer blade servo sits on a mount that takes up some room as well. The Dozer servo is removable with 2 micro screws. Yes it is a small Dozer Tank and a bit tricky to get all that stuff in there for sure :D

I will post more pictures and a video soon.

Hello Her Doctor, The M60 shown here comes in that color out of the box. I will get more pictures of the tank in better light. It is the only model I have that is that particular OD color.

Decided to update my m60 Dozer Tank. I updated the twin ESC's to one ultra micro ESC and changed the Blade control to Elevator control so Elevator stick up\down controls the Blade.

Here is a short video of the M60 with new radio configuration.

M means the ESC has a Track mixer. This is one of my smallest 5 channel receivers with ultra micro dual ESC with mixer. This is used in "worlds smallest Hobby grade RRC Tank.

Lots of room in the hull for more like Turret and main gun animation.
