Re: Painting and weathering HUGE 1:6 Maybach Panzer engines
I tried a lot to get the metal parts darker (I prefer chemical blueing because paint will easily chip off)
Last one worked haha!
Resin easily breaks, so since this part had broken off before I reinforced it with putty
And now that i had some putty anyway, I found more small repairs to make
To be filed down after it has dried

MP,
That is some amazing work. I love the surfacing and color of the exhaust headers. Beautiful job!
Cheers,
Eric.

Then you'll like it even more painted like this:
I paint it not very precise and correct that later. Works fine for me.

What a marvelous model! I see that Mr. Surfacer 500 comes in a bottle, not just the spray bomb. I must see if I can find a bottle here in the US, for it seem to me that the spray bomb does not create a sufficiently rough texture for the look of a metal casting.

The trick is to dab it on. You should use a stiff, short-haired brush (just cut a regular one off) and afterwards you have to throw it away haha! But it works really well.
