Prop shaft failure

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Prop shaft failure

Post by Rattlesnake road »

1:12 8x8 Military Truck Metal Drive System Waterproof 8 Wheel RC Truck Remote Control Off-Road Car Support Modification. Dropped in to speak with the club rc guy and he was working on the above truck. It had a rear prop shaft failure, the shaft joint sheared and he was fitting a better quality shaft flange joint.

Are you talking about the HG-P801/802/803A ? Ifso I have run my HG-P-803A without trouble for months carrying a full load with the imposed weight over the back axles whenever I selected the "Tipper".
£400 well spent
Do you know who the maker is of the "Better Quality Shaft Flange Joint" in case I do need a replacement ?
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

No idea of the flange and prop shaft maker, Jonathan at Nimrif RC, Plympton, Devon UK is a car racer owner of the RC shop. The item used is a cut down longer shaft possibly used on racing cars. I believe Jonathan is an ex UK/European racing champion. His father owned the shop before Jonathan, a guy who will spend the maximum time with a customer and will not get you to buy something just for the sake of it, unlike a lot of other RC shops.

It sounds like an 801 which is the 8 wheeled drop side truck, the canvas tilt being an optional extra,
The 802 is the 8 wheeled articulated tractor unit and the 803 is the 8 wheeled r/c controlled tipper which also has the option of fitting a canvas tilt which is what I fitted to my 803,
I also bought the 806 multi-axle trailer kit and the 5th wheel conversion kit to change my 803 tipper into an articulated tractor.
These trucks as you know are nothing like the plastic Heng Long/Taigen/Torro RTRs but are primarily Metal and lots of servos and the build is high quality,Even the indicators work and the highly detailed engine's cooling fan spins when the truck is running !!!
Every part of the truck using the supplied handbooks and tools can be easily stripped down,
Unlike the 801 and 802 which have a pistol grip controller My 803 came with a 16 channel programmable radio with a receiver in the faux fuel tank.
Every time I lift it out of its supplied polystyrene tailored carry case I wonder at the size of the truck and the brilliant value of it,
The lady from Parcelforce had to knock on the door to ask me to give her a hand getting the box from the Truck to our door it was so big and heavy.
£400 well spent.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
