Britain Monitoring Families Inside Their Homes

Post by bowlman »

England has a new program that puts "problem" families under 24 hour surveillance in their own homes to make sure the kids, among other things, do their homework and go to bed on time.

The Children’s Secretary set out £400million plans to put 20,000 problem families under 24-hour CCTV super-vision in their own homes. They will be monitored to ensure that children attend school, go to bed on time and eat proper meals.

I dont know, if we're paying for these cameras through our taxes then we should be able to access the footage right? Its got to be more fun than Big Brother! And no security guards to stop the fights!

Imagine Jerry Springer crossed with Big Brother... now thats a ratings winner  ;)

Thanks to Tony & Gordon's Reign of Terror(TM) all of the civil liberties set down in the Geneva Convention have been taken away. We have no control anymore, no privacy, and very little rights left. Guess its time to leave the country.  :P

I dunno, 24 hour CCTV supervision for Chav's sounds like a good idea to me... 8)

Shame we can't couple it with US police style electro-shock therapy...  >:(

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just dump them in the sea. On second thoughts that'd be polluting the ocean.

unfortunately i agree with both points of view on this issue!
on one hand i do think problem families have to be dealt with but on the other hand i think that social services have too much power and parents dont have enough as i found out to my utter astonishment recently after sending one of my kids to bed with no tea one night and getting a visit the next day by a police officer and social worker telling me that this was classed as physical and mental abuse!!!!
the next thing i knew all our children were put on the at risk register and my wife lost her job as a nursery playleader because of it!!!
so i think parents should be given more rights to bring their children back in line and there would be less of a problem with this kind of thing in the first place!

Man this whole thing about spare the rod and spoil the child is getting out of hand over here in some places you even yell at your kid and he or she tells there teacher the next thing you know child services  comes a knocking but if your kid hits you can't even protect yourself and if they stay out all night or run a way its all your fault but you can't touch them or scold them so how are you to teach them from right or wrong I got my butt busted when I was a kid every time I screwed up  and talk about setting in the corner time outs and sent to bed I did not turn out bad I have a good job I respect others I don't drink much alcohol I dont get high on drugs and I am Happy and fill the punishments I got as a kid helped me to learn you pay for what you want and don't be a shit head to others if you don't want the same back at you kids now day's do what they want then piss and moan when they wind up in jail or mom dad im going to be a dad or im pregnant  you live and learn your parents teach you what you need to know to survive in this world if they can't do it because the law won't let them who is at blame then .
