camouflage
Any tips on making your own cam nets or hessian sandbags?
Re: camouflage
hello mate
i made my camo nets with dyed cotton bandages, look here
viewtopic.php?f=188&t=17333&p=291643&hilit=net#p291643
and for the sandbags we brought almost 1200 sandbags from a German shop in ebay several years ago. i can not find the vendor anymore but it has a website, these are the empty bags
http://www.modellkennzeichen24.de/shop/ ... aecke.html
the process is very simple but also a bit time consuming: fill 3/4 of the bag with beach sand, tie it with a rope and, to put it in place, i then submerge every bag in white glue (carpenter's glue) diluted with water. Without the diluted carpenter's glue, they will not take the appropriate shape and you cannot do the appropriate 'weathering' to them.
Place the bag in position with some quantity of not diluted white glue on the underside and let it dry. It become hard like cement, but be warned to not wet them after, water will dilute the glue again.
best regards

Re: camouflage
What about camouflage that is painted onto the armor itself? And different types and styles for different US armor?

Re: camouflage
I thought I had a book on the Sherman as it was sometimes camouflaged, but I am losing what librarians call "bibliographic control." I.E. I don't remember where it is. However here is one that does show a few schemes:
Zaloga, Steven J. U.S. Tank Destroyers in Combat 1941-1945. Concord Pub., 1996.
I got that book (and dozens more) from https://daviddoylebooks.com/. David Doyle's primary job is researching and writing books on WWII armor, aircraft, and whatnot else. But he and his wife also sell lots and lots of books on the same, and I have found the Doyles to be totally reliable, downright friendly, conscientious.
Here's another book that may provide help on markings:
Bouchery, Jean and Phillippe Carbonnier. U.S. Army Vehicle Markings 1944. Casemate, [2017].

Re: camouflage
Thanks. It's really informative. I am actually looking for a specific type. Army green and sand colored camouflage that tank destroyer units used at Anizo.
