Looks great Steiner,it must have been a challenge to place the decals.Your Tiger is really taking shape,the Matt should bring out the realism,I really want to see it finished but remember OZ'S warning about the Matt drying.It's been a long road but were getting close to the finish,really looks great Steiner. Oz,thank-you for the offer and I will require some help,right now I cannot ever take it out of the box until the claim is settled.If you believe you can salvage the exhaust guard I welcome the help.As far as shipping it's not a problem as my sister works for DHL and receives a good discount,I think I have all the little bits and pieces.Really what would I do without you fine anglo-saxons to guide me.Cheers 1-saxondog

Hi Sax,
Thanks for that. I had decal numbers 205 & 221, so I cut them to make 222. The problem was, I lost one of the 2s and the only one I had left was a 2 that had been cut across the decal. Not only was it sliced but I only had one shot at getting right  . I had a right sweat on I can tell you. ::) ::) ::).

There is still a bit to do and then there is the tracks to weather. Did you manage to get paints/ varnishes at the model shop ?

I also had to create my numbers from other tank versions,the only numbers for Grossdeutschland are A23 and C32.But I was able to cut up a sheet and make S13 with white outline.As for the paints they gave me a Humbrol paint chart that will be helpful,as soon as I got to the shop I forgot which colors OZ suggested.Old age is creeping in. They are open late on SAT. so I can go back.Also have completed my turret with the new barrel and have primed it for painting,I am not happy with the way the pastels turned out on the first one.I will go ahead and finish the first one before painting the other,the true colors should come out after the Matt coat,also I have not found the right Ronseal yet but intend to go to a paint store Monday.I will be painting all the detail parts tonight,and the tools as Oz has instructed.Sax

This afternoon I mixed 1 part Tamiya Flat base X21 acrylic with 3 parts Klear, I then sprayed it on some scrap plastic, painted the same as my Tiger with the Klear coat on. The result was a very, very, flat matt finish. I wonder if Oz has tried this before. I am tempted to use this method.The problem is though, It might not give as hard a finish as the Ronseal ? I should have posted a pic of the result.

I don't think it would be wise to change at this point,their could be an adverse reaction or worse.Because of OZ we know what to expect from the ronseal.I was tempted to use the Matt clear finish by Testers,but I have one advantage over you Bran.I did go through the stripping process and it worked but it was not cheap,12.00 for two cans.See my point the least expensive way is to use the Ronseal,I lost the cost of all the paint and primer.And all the labor time STRIPPING AND PAINTING AND RE-PAINTING.Wow to write it all out really brings to focus the hassle I went through.Stay the coarse,it will turn out great.SAX

Your right Sax, too much time, money, and effort  has went into this now. I will stick to the Ronseal.

hi steiner.
i have used this technique before but the problem with the flat base and klear mix is it can sometimes turn white or at the very least turn a frosty Grey if its not mixed to the correct proportions, its good to try new ideas but i would try it on an old kit first or you could be getting firsthand experience of the Mr muscle method but don't worry the Mr muscle method works very well just ask sax or me  ....................cheers oz

Oz,I have been unable to locate RONSEAL MATT VARNISH.The three MINWAX finishes I have found are Gloss,Semi-Gloss,and Satin.Perhaps you can find out the U.S.version? I am sure that their is a U.S.product,I just have to find it.Monday the Sherwin/Williams paint store will be open and that's all they carry is paint products I'm just a little impatient SAX
