Looking for a Headless Hull
Greetings all! I'm looking for a basic plastic hull for any Heng Long tank, upper and lower. Using it for a project that may or may not end in the puff of white smoke, so just the basics. Nylon gearbox, plastic wheels, suspension, etc. As headless suggests, a tank without a turret works fine too. I think a more modern tank design might work better due to the hull shape and suspension style. Thanks for your help!

Well, it involves introducing electricity to its mortal enemy, water. Thinking about waterproofing the hull of a tank so it can take on puddles and such without fear.

Have a look at Fred the French's amazing Duplex Drive Sherman project. He managed to waterproof his, to the extent that its swimming antics made it a temporary video star

How's that for waterproof, and no electrical short circuits?

Given brushed motors will work underwater is the aim to keep water out of the tank or the electrics?

Being a relatively new member here, there's years and years of info, and amazing models that I haven't seen before. Fred's DD Sherman is insane! How one arrives at the point where they can make this work boggles my mind! Some serious genius level work goes on here at this Forum. I can't imagine the nerve it would take to spend so much time on a project and then lower it into a pool!!!???43rdRecceReg wrote:Have a look at Fred the French's amazing Duplex Drive Sherman project. As for the real DD Sherman's, how terrifying would it be to crew one of those things?!
Once again, just blown away by the talent here!

Eric.

Re: Looking for a Headless Hull
Both! I plan seal the hull so no water gets in, but still have the board and wires protected, just in case. I'm definitely going with differential steering via two propellers, however, I'm not quite sure how to power them. Would it be possible to connect the propellers to the gearboxes already in the tank?RobW wrote:Given brushed motors will work underwater is the aim to keep water out of the tank or the electrics?

Re: Looking for a Headless Hull
So I've been searching, and most of the tanks I'm finding are 6.0 and expensive. Where do I find the 5.3 S&S versions now?
