There’s a lot going on in that little door, but it looks a lot neater than the original gearbox
It’s your tank it’s what you make it

Hi Mr Brute,
Thank you for your continued interest, it is a whole lot better isn't it, its a fair representation of the full size vehicle i think, just need to add some hydraulic hoses to the right side and some electrical conduit that goes from the lower right side up to the plug in engine distribution board on the engine packs front, might have to make an engine pack front for them though..... oh dear its snowballing again
!.
Its all had to be made so it lifts out in various pieces so i still have access to get the motors and gearbox pack out, i must say that the Matorro one piece unit is convenient as it all comes out in one big lump.
Unfortunately building is slowing due to the real world catching up...
Cheers.

Re: British FV432/30 Bull dog
I hear you on the builds slowing. Both my Sherman and is-3 have ground to a halt now that work has gone crazy. I haven’t had a day off in 2 weeks and 3 night of that so far has been spent in a travel lodge.
I certainly think the snowball idea of the engine parts in there will make another vast improvement on an already vast improvement. But if you do that how many pieces will it have to be so you can remove it

Hi,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner Mr Brute, been a tad busy, i have added the engine pack junction panel for the hydraulic and electrical connectors and started to make some of the lines, on the real thing these just disconnect on quick disconnection fittings in order to remove the entire engine pack in one go.
In order to get at my models gearbox i now have to remove 4 pieces which isnt too difficult to do, the hard bit was working out how to do it so i could do it without trashing the pieces so they still fitted together afterwards, think i am nearly done in here now just a few more bits to do and then need to think about the paint.....that will be fun.
Cheers.

Hi.
Little bit more done, fuel tank filler necks and fuel caps added, left and right rear, fixing detail added to filler necks where they bolt to the hull, little bit difficult to see as they are very small but they are there, hopefully the paint should make them stand out more when its painted.

Nice photos and modeling. It’s threads like yours that really remind me to try to be a slower, more patient modeler.

Hi,
Thank you Sir, and congrats on your appointment.
Patience definately helps, some times we all press on regardless when things are going " belly up" when the right thing to do is just go away and leave it alone for a few hours / days whatever, then come back to it,
That difficult job then goes so easy you wonder why it was so hard in the first place
Regards.

Re: British FV432/30 Bull dog
I hear you there jimster. The results sub has achieved with patients far out stretches any amount of detailing I would add to many of my builds especially the lengths gone to for internal detail and correct me if I’m wrong sub but just because the hatch opens and the inside can be seen.
But a lesson has been learnt and it makes me wonder. The inside of my a3s can be seen through the engine deck would putting and engine top in there be viable

So funny you mentioned that! Just what I’ve been wondering about my Tiger’s rear deck. You can easily see right down through the vents exposing the smoker and wiring etc. Kills the realism in a big way to my eye.
I’ve considered a low relief plastic insert depicting the engine (with some discrete ventilation holes) or even just a photo of the engine as seen from above. Seems as if a crafty person could market an insert for these situations.
