10 silly mistakes to avoid when soldering.

Post by Son of a gun-ner »

Hi peeps.
I stumbled on this video while browsing, I thought it would be handy for some :thumbup:

Watch "10 STUPID ERRORS To AVOID in Soldering and TIPS" on YouTube
phpBB [video]

This video would go well with this thread.

Excellent video and perfect timing as my old soldering iron has one foot in the grave. It only cost me about $10 so I’m ready to upgrade to a more serious iron. Especially now that I’m making battery packs and such.

You're welcome chaps.

Mr Jimster, it was after I noticed your talk about battery soldering, that prompted me to find this video in my history and post it, I did mean to post it a while back, but forgot :{

Lee, sometimes a simple little thing that's overlooked or not known about can make all the difference.

I had the advantage of being shown how to solder many years ago, and having some extra home work assembling and soldering circuit boards.
But after watching that film, I noticed I did one of the stupid errors :{

I think this thread coupled with that video will go a long way to helping people more understand soldering.

Edit; The link to this thread is now in the original post with the video.

Good video.
The biggest thing I see people not do is to add solder to the tip of their irons prior to attempting to tin wires and connectors. I'm guilty of that on the smaller gauge wires (I blame my eyes for having to squint so much).

No, I don't need a statue Shaun, I'm not the kind of guy that likes a lot of fuss, or limelight.

But there could be something much more simple to do.

At the bottom of the forums board index where it has;
Legend: Administrators, Global moderators, Registered users, Vendors
And there's not a purple one for me, to make it simple, they can just change "Legend to purple. . . .

I don't think the administrators wish to cause confusion which is what would happen if they gave you the rightfully earned title of "LEGEND" :thumbup: :clap: :lolno:

Although some may feel that Bell-end may be more appropriate. . . .
