Weathering

So gentleman today I offer up 2 tanks I have spent the last few days trying to weather to a point of where I’m happy with it. First up the su85 which is supposed to be more of a summer dusty type of weathering. The second is supposed to be early spring during or just after the snow has thawed but still very wet. This has been done on my kv1

You may not see from the photos but they suggest I am better at dry weathering than I am at wet weathering. But I think they will pass

Usually I would spray them but with these 2 due to needing a new pipe I did it by hand. On the su85 I made the paint more of a wash as I would if I sprayed. Gave it 2 coats of wash by dabbing it on with a makeup sponge so it was enough to see the wash but not too much to cover the tanks colour. When that had dried I used pigment applied with a make up brush to give the dust effect. Then Matt varnish from a spray tin.

The kv-1 was A bit of a longer process and done slightly different But it depends on what you go for

Oh good to know, starting the weather on the T-34 soon So many ways of doing it, my heads spinning with ideas

Excellent work. You got it right without over doing it, and that's a very nice talent to have. Very realistic, and not at all toy-like, as so many over-weathered tanks seem to end up.

I'd love to see video of either one in action. Hint, Hint.

Sadly the kv1 is not yet running. Does have its standard board in to move it around but that’s about it. The su85 however as my first solo build is now up and running but as I don’t use tap talk or YouTube makes a video difficult
