Re: Early m4a1
Perhaps to equip a tank that was going to deploy.
Early times had a huge strain on supply of hardware.

Yes I did finally manage to find some images of it just after it left Lima locomotive works. Sporting both the early spoke wheels and the short double counter weight 75mm barrel. So as an answer to my question. I will be changing the wheels

Although they decided against the driver operated dual Brownings, and did away with them, that Sherman Michael is very much like the first Sherman's delivered and shipped to north Africa with the shorter 75 barrel and counterweight.

The photos I’m working from have the longer m3 barrels so that will do for me

Well, the earlier longer barrel ones still had spoke wheels

Re: Early m4a1
So these are the standard henlong plastic bogies and since my phone has decided to do as it pleases. The photos are at all sorts of angles including upside down
First take them off the tank and then take them apart After that you will need to do a little chopping and sanding After assembling the top half of the bogie check the fit before glueing. Further sanding maybe required
Ok so top fits. that all fits. Next assemble the whole unit still without glue to check the pivot and return of the fake spring when the wheel hits it as the rear spring may catch and require trimming after checking the pivots and you are happy with it all. Glue it together and add roller there we have it an early bogie. For the pivots a paper clip is recommended I have used pins with a blob of glue on the back and for the rollers 6mm brass tube Will go over the rollers axel to give you the bushes

I forgot to mention the roller itself will also need a trim front and back and possibly the top of the bogie beneath where the roller sits

Re: Early m4a1
When you say 'fake' spring, do you mean it is a separate part that slides up and down in the spring mount?

Re: Early m4a1
No I mean the whole thing uses the existing Heng long spring so the parts where the spring would be on the real think do nothing more than pivot if the wheel hits it. It does look possible to have a working system but it’s more work and hassle than I can be bothered with

Ah, now I see the purpose of the pin.
