SAMOKHODNAYA USTANOVKA-152/KV14 RENOVATORS DREAM!

This section is for builds that are not strictly Tamiya or Heng Long. For instance, replacing the electronics from a WSN or Matorro, or even a scratch-build.

Not as much of a basket case as I was expecting then, which is good

Whats not pictured is the cracking along the join between the casemate & lower, and bent lower hull tub which has distorted the suspension, and broken off mounting points that secure the upper to the quick release mechanism.

It seems to have a coat of enamel paint, so I will try oven cleaner to try to get it to lift.
I put some putty on a "shell strike" mark on the resin casemate and it also softened the paint.

I'll get it, just have to back a bit to go forward ;)

Thanks for your pictures mate, they are going to be well handy.

She'll be right, mate

If its been left standing on its wheels for any length of time, you might find the suspension has collapsed - it didn't take long for my original torsion bars to go into yield and have to be replaced with an upgrade set on mine, which I've never been able to set up right :/ .
It hasn't helped that I put heavy metal Asiatam tracks on the already hefty metal road-wheeled chassis, that is already lugging around the billet machined aluminium fuel tanks and gun barrel. I think if I did this again, I would have stuck with a plastic HL chassis and track set...

At least I haven't shredded the old Asiatam gearboxes yet - rather surprised about that to be honest, given that I have battled with this sucker back when I was in Detroit, and I have had failures in much lighter vehicles 8O

The bar mounts on my upper that secures it to the lower broke in shipment on mine also. I used some Tamiya extra thin cement to reattach the mounting point to the upper and then reinforced the whole mount by wrapping with some epoxy putty.

New carpet and a lick of paint and she’ll be ready to move into. :D

Good luck mate, that body sounds like one of those Italian cars made from Russian steel back in the 1980s 8O

I admire your collective confidence!!
I had one of those “ Kids, don’t try this at home” moments.
Got home later in the arvo on Saturday than I wanted, but I still felt the urge to get the crappy paint of the upper hill.
Whipped out the oven cleaner and gave it a liberal coating.
In my haste to get it done, didn’t use any gloves.
Now have caustic burns on my fingers.

I’m now officially a weapons grade Tard

Sometimes, but only sometimes, it is advisable to read and follow the precautionary information on some devices. Our ovencleaner is strongly alakaline. I wouldnt want that "hands on experience" :S  :wtf:
